We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy deal with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her partner and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never ever talked to him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
