The very first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. Then in the third week, a despair began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking practically constantly when the depression embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of all of it. I think it's time I provided you a total photo of our street and the people who survive on it. It will be available in beneficial in the future. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
