From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses throughout the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of ladies in the house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of everything. I think it's time I gave you a total photo of our street and the people who survive on it. It will can be found in useful later. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
