We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd thought. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the anxiety set in, I began to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would interrupt me now, and state that most ladies at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
