All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been similar to you. We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking practically constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that many ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other females. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
