We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. She recently separated from her hubby and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I talked to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke with him, despite the fact that what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
