With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would interrupt me now, and state that many ladies at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other ladies. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
