We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her hubby and remains in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke with him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
