With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of women in the house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy cope with their two teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
