We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been similar to you. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to finish with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I established a issue with my knee. A semi-serious problem. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could stroll, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working. I signed up with the ranks of the long-lasting ill, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first few weeks were great I.
managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. Then in the 3rd week, a malaise started to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.
We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost continually when the depression embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their day-to-day regimens.
November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that many females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of all of it. I believe it's time I offered you a total image of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in beneficial in the future. It's a extremely small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is.
Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.
On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
