We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. In the 3rd week, a malaise began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continuously when the anxiety set in, I started to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her partner and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time.
