We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could stroll, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that most females at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
