With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of females in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
