We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy cope with their two teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her spouse and remains in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never talked to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
