All of us accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been just like you. We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically constantly when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that most women at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not understand the half of everything. I think it's time I gave you a total picture of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in helpful in the future. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
