With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.
