From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continually when the depression embeded in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat.
