We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would interrupt me now, and say that most women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
