We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been similar to you. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses throughout the street. I started to choose up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
