All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had been just like you. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to finish with the day instead of what my neighbours would depend on. Then, I established a problem with my knee. The first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. Then in the third week, a despair began to creep in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continually when the anxiety embeded in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of ladies at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
