We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd idea. After smoking practically constantly when the depression set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that many ladies at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not know the half of all of it. I believe it's time I gave you a complete photo of our street and individuals who live on it. It will come in useful later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
