We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a 2nd idea. After smoking practically continuously when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your home. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not know the half of everything. I believe it's time I gave you a total image of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in beneficial later. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
