We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a extremely little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy deal with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her hubby and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never ever spoke to him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
