In the 3rd week, a malaise began to creep in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continuously when the depression set in, I started to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that many women in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her spouse and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time.
