We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I might stroll, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, imposed on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking practically continually when the anxiety set in, I started to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that most ladies in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a total picture of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in helpful later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
