We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continually when the anxiety embeded in, I began to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that most women in the house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
