I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, implemented on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most individuals would interrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She recently separated from her partner and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I never ever spoke to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
