We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. After smoking nearly constantly when the anxiety set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of females in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
