We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been similar to you. The first few weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. Then in the third week, a malaise began to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, implemented on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not understand the half of it all. I think it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and individuals who reside on it. It will come in useful in the future.
