In the third week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, implemented on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your house. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She recently separated from her husband and remains in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time.
