With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
