We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been just like you. I joined the ranks of the long-term ill, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The very first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that accumulate done. Then in the third week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly continually when the anxiety embeded in, I began to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of it all. I believe it's time I gave you a complete photo of our street and individuals who live on it. It will be available in helpful in the future. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her hubby and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
