We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who stroll past the home. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would interrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other ladies. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her other half and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never ever spoke to him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
