We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been similar to you. Triggering to work every day, worried more about what I was going to finish with the day rather than what my neighbours would depend on. In the third week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the anxiety set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and state that most ladies at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not know the half of it all. I believe it's time I offered you a complete image of our street and individuals who reside on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a extremely small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
