All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. We have a no smoking policy in our home, implemented on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continuously when the depression set in, I started to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would interrupt me now, and state that many ladies at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her husband and is in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I spoke to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, despite the fact that what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I mention him.
