We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been similar to you. We have a no smoking policy in our home, implemented on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that most ladies in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have two replies. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her husband and remains in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself.
