We all accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had been just like you. We have a no smoking policy in our home, implemented on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly constantly when the depression embeded in, I started to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of individuals would disrupt me now, and say that the majority of females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
