All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had been much like you. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to finish with the day rather than what my neighbours would depend on. I developed a problem with my knee. A semi-serious issue. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-term ill, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first few weeks were great I.
managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. Then in the third week, a despair began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I started to get depressed.
We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking almost constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday routines.
November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of individuals who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of women in your home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of all of it. I think it's time I offered you a complete picture of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will can be found in useful later. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is.
Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids.
On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
