After smoking nearly constantly when the anxiety set in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I began with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most females at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
