We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her hubby and remains in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers.
