We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would interrupt me now, and say that most females at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her spouse and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never talked to him, even though what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
