All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a doubt. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had been much like you. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking nearly continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and say that the majority of ladies at house do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. She recently separated from her spouse and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never talked to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
