We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would interrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her other half and remains in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and daddy Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I spoke to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City. I never talked to him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
