We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a 2nd thought. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the home. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many individuals would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
