All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been just like you. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to finish with the day instead of what my neighbours would be up to. I established a problem with my knee. A semi-serious problem. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I might stroll, run, and climb, however it did stop me from driving, which in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. Then in the 3rd week, a malaise started to creep in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After cigarette smoking almost constantly when the anxiety embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of women in your home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not know the half of it all. I think it's time I offered you a complete image of our street and individuals who live on it. It will can be found in useful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
