We have a no smoking policy in our home, enforced on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking almost continually when the depression embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies in the house do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies.
