With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat.
