We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a 2nd thought. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of females at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this website is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
