Then in the third week, a despair started to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses throughout the street. I began to choose up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past your home. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that most ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
