We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After smoking almost continually when the depression embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of ladies at house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
