We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I started to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females tackled their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that many ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of it all. I believe it's time I gave you a total image of our street and the people who survive on it. On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her partner and is in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time.
