From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking almost constantly when the depression set in, I started to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat.
