All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a reservation. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been just like you. I signed up with the ranks of the long-term ill, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. In the 3rd week, a despair began to creep in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of all of it. I think it's time I gave you a complete image of our street and the people who reside on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her husband and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke with them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never ever spoke to him, although what I'm about to inform you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
