We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I might walk, run, and climb, however it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our house, implemented on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. After smoking cigarettes practically continually when the anxiety embeded in, I began to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of females at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her husband and is in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I spoke with them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never ever talked to him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
