We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been just like you. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could stroll, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working. I signed up with the ranks of the long-term sick, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it simple. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. Then in the third week, a malaise began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 homes throughout the street. I began to choose up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that most females in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a complete photo of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy deal with their 2 teenage children. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her hubby and remains in the procedure of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not presented myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some beginners. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I talked to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, despite the fact that what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
