All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been just like you. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it simple. The first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. In the 3rd week, a malaise began to creep in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no cigarette smoking policy in our home, enforced on the bulk (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This indicates that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking nearly continuously when the anxiety embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that most females at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't know the half of everything. I believe it's time I provided you a total image of our street and the people who live on it. It will be available in beneficial later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
