We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a reservation. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up till September, I had actually been just like you. Then in the third week, a despair started to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, implemented on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking nearly constantly when the depression embeded in, I started to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and advanced to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that many women in the house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a total photo of our street and individuals who live on it. It will can be found in beneficial later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
