We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After cigarette smoking practically continuously when the depression set in, I began to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your home. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of ladies in your home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have two replies.
