We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a doubt. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up till September, I had actually been just like you. In the 3rd week, a despair started to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, enforced on the bulk (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mother). This indicates that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the anxiety set in, I began to discover the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that the majority of females in your home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not know the half of everything. I believe it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and individuals who survive on it. It will come in helpful later on. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her husband and is in the process of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I live with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Of course, whenever I talked to them, I utilized terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke with him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
