We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. I started to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past your house. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and state that most ladies in the house do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you do not understand the half of it all. I believe it's time I offered you a complete picture of our street and individuals who live on it. It will come in useful in the future. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
