All of us accompany this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I vary from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been much like you. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to make with the day instead of what my neighbours would depend on. I developed a problem with my knee. A semi-serious problem. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I might walk, run, and climb, however it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-term sick, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. In the 3rd week, a malaise started to creep in. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, implemented on the bulk (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. I began to choose up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the house. I began with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and state that many women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy cope with their two teenage boys. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her hubby and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and father Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I spoke with them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this space in my knowledge. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they appeared to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City. I never spoke with him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I discuss him.
