We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been much like you. The first couple of weeks were great I. managed to get all the little jobs that pile up done. In the third week, a malaise began to sneak in. I had absolutely nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This suggests that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking practically continually when the depression set in, I started to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the pet for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of females at house do what I do, chat and stop with the other females. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
